In Dakar, circulating describes not only the process of movement of people and things, but also a situated space-time order in which social, economic and infrastructural relationships flow into one another. The meanings of this multi-layered term are reflected in the following glossary entry from a design-ethnographic perspective based on observations in public spaces, auto-ethnographic drive and go-alongs, and conversations with passengers in the Senegalese capital.
The text was written as part of a glossary of transdisciplinary research terms within the framework of the Research Training Group ‘Connecting – Excluding. Cultural Practices Beyond Global Networking’ at the University of Cologne.
